These are not the largest sharks, growing to a maximum size of only about 11 ft. However, they are probably responsible for more attacks and more fatal attacks on humans than any other sharks. While they are marine, they are known to swim hundreds of miles upstream into the worlds major rivers including the Amazon, the Congo and the Mississippi where they may take unsuspecting people and animals. For many years they were thought to be different species; in different rivers, but now they are known to be a single species with world wide distribution.

"USAMA BIN EATEN" - Bull Shark mounted on the Anchor of USS Cole, DDG-67 - 10" Long X 8" High This of course, is my "Artists" reaction to the bombing of the USS Cole and the events of 9/11/01, and it was the first new bronze that I created and produced after that. In addition to my background in Marine Biology, I am also a Veteran, having served 4 years in the US Navy, '63 thru '67, most of that aboard an Aircraft Carrier; the USS Essex - CVS-9. So, for me, the bombing of the USS Cole was personal. . . . Inscribed on one surface of the Anchor's Shank: USS Cole - DDG-67 - On an adjacent surface: Refloated 14 Sept 2001
